Rick Perry is announcing his GOP candidacy for President this Saturday. If you know of the Bilderberg Group and its last conference in Switzerland, this should come as no surprise. According to those trying to keep a close eye on the secret Bilderberger meetings and this Austin News 8 report below, Perry was invited to attend the 2007 conference in Istanbul. Many believe it was at this conference that Perry was presumably vetted for the higher office of presidency in 2012.
Many believe the Bilderberger Group puts its influence behind a presidential candidate from each party who will help the group move its agendas forward. American voters are given the illusion of choice, but in reality, the real decision on who becomes President is made for them. They believe that Bilderberg likes to own both horses in a two horse race for the White House. This is how the powerful elite in the world will always get their way. Whether or not any of this is true, it does appear odd that many other U.S. Presidents have attended Bilderberger conferences prior to being elected. As governor, Clinton attended his first Bilderberg meeting in 1991 and was elected president about a year later. President George W. Bush’s trip to Italy coincided neatly with the 2004 conference in Stresa, Italy. Obama attended the 2008 Bilderberg meeting in Chantilly, Va., just before winning the 2008 Democratic nomination.
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) is one of few on the inside who have openly answered questions regarding the Bilderberg Group and their influence in world politics. Read that here.
Another interesting caveat here is that Newt Gingrich thought to be a member of the Bilderberger Group and the Trilateral Commission. Newt allegedly said he never had participated and never would participate in Bilderberg or Trilateral Commission meetings. One might wonder why his candidacy for President has fallen flat and his entire campaign staff has quit on him. What’s really going on here?
Time will tell if the conspiracy theorists are correct on this one. If Perry wins the Republican nomination for 2012, we may want look a little more closely at who is really pulling the strings. If he doesn’t, then maybe the conspiracy folks are wrong on this issue altogether. Let’s wait and see.
When short-sighted Alf Spence tottered down to his local postbox to send a card, he hoped he hadn’t missed the last collection.
But as he popped the envelope through the little slot a concerned passerby looked at him with a stunned expression.
The good Samaritan tapped a befuddled Alf, 91, on the shoulder and explained to him that he wasn’t standing in front of a postbox, but had in fact posted his great-grandson’s birthday card into a DOG POO waste bin!
Apparently the old-timer had been dropping off his mail at this location for 2 years!
Royal Mail will now cancel their investigation into the hundreds of missing letters and parcels he’s sent over the last two years.

Appealing to youth has been an important part of marketing and advertising for decades. It’s no longer just the parents making the buying decisions. Children and teens have influence over their parents, particularly when it comes to selecting lunch products.
This video spoof takes a look at a “commercial” that never aired when it was “made” in 1996. There’s a valid reason why it wasn’t made public until now. NSFW.

Jani Lane, the once energetic blond lead singer and songwriter for heavy metal band Warrant, has been found dead in a Los Angeles motel room, police said. He was 47.
According to TMZ.com, investigators found a half-empty bottle of vodka and prescription medication in the hotel room.
Warrant announced back in September 2008 that it was splitting with Lane six months after the band reunited with the troubled vocalist.
A little part of my junior high years died today. Chuck Klosterman wrote a a good piece on him here.
My favorite songs by them in order: Sometimes She Cries Heaven Uncle Tom’S Cabin I Saw Red
A small bookstore in Wheeling, West Virginia has a charming business model. The Paradox Bookstore is located at the Centre Market in Wheeling, WV. This eclectic used bookstore is actually the oldest used bookstore in West Virginia. It was opened by Tom Stobart 35 years ago when he was just seventeen and a young playwright. He can still be found behind the low counter reading and smoking as if time has forgotten him and he could care less. Their hours are posted as “irregular,” and they have no phone.
What kind of business would you have if money didn’t matter?

Remember Excite.com? Well in the late 1990s they had the chance to buy Google for $1 million. Excite wasn’t interested. The offer was lowered to $750,000. Excite passed. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin stuck with it and their once small search engine is worth about $180 billion. Excite declared bankruptcy in 2001 and the owners now have to tell this story to their grandkids someday.

Rumor is that this sequence was a giant pain in the ass to shoot. Apparently, James Cameron (seen swimming below) is something of a dictator until he gets all his shots right. The cast was more or less in the water for almost three days until they got everything they needed down on film. (via Unreality Magazine)
