Slash Says He and Axl Rose Are Cool Again

After not speaking to each other for almost two decades, Axl Rose and Slash may be ending their feud, or at least reaching some sort of détente. Rolling Stone points out that in a recent interview, Slash responds to the host’s remark that “I’ve heard that you’ve made friends with Axl Rose again” by saying, “It was probably way overdue, you know. But it’s very cool at this point to dispel some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long.”

One Man’s Plan To Reunite Guns N’ Roses (Video 1 of 3)

Slash and Axl, Marc Canter

Marc Canter and his bride center

A short documentary about one man’s plan to get Guns N’ Roses back back together. Growing up best friends with Slash and Axl, Marc Canter had a front row seat for the rise and fall of one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Nearly thirty years later, if anyone knows what it will take to get them back together it’s him. A childhood friend of Slash, Canter was around during the formative years for one of the most iconic rock bands of all-time, writing about that time of his life in Reckless Road: Guns N’ Roses and the Making of Appetite for Destruction.

This is part 1 of 3 in a series that will be unveiled over the next two weeks by UPROXX.

1. Minnesotans are a quietly proud bunch when it comes to our local celebrities. Songwriter-singer Dan Wilson (Semisonic) cowrote the Adele piano ballad “Someone Like You,” and is enjoying it’s No. 1 status. He writes a lot in case you didn’t know and won a grammy for co-writing the Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready To Make Nice.” (story)
2. This is why I don’t heroize. Martin Luther King Jr. tried to arrange a sex party during the March on Washington? (ABC News)
3. In case you haven’t heard, there was a homicide on 9/11 in NYC that remains unsolved to this day. I suppose the events of that day created the ultimate diversion for getting away with murder. (story)
4. Unreality Magazine published a gallery of celebs without eyebrows to demonstrate how having eyebrows helps us not look like escaped mental patients.
5. This picture pretty much sums up how I feel about politicians right now.

Watch Dave Grohl kick some dipwad out of a Foo Fighters show

Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, verbally blasted a douchey fan at a show they were doing in London recently for fighting. While performing a song, Grohl noticed some troublemaker in the crowd picking fights. He stopped the show and gave the guy a piece of his mind. Watch it here. Warning: Lots of F-words.

10 things you didn’t know about Phil Collins

Phil Collins announced his retirement yesterday. It trended on Twitter for a spell. When I heard he retired, I immediately assumed the Disney money train discontinued service on his street. The reason for hanging it up, though, according to this People magazine story, is to be a full-time father to his two young boys.

I have never been a big fan of Phil Collins, but I have never disliked his music either.

That being said, I decided to dig a little bit and see what I could uncover about this Grammy-winning musician.

10 things you might not know about Phil Collins:

  1. He was given a toy drum kit for Christmas when he was five. He practiced by playing alongside the television and radio and never learned to read and write conventional musical notation
  2. In 1970, he tried out for Genesis. The audition occurred at the home of Peter Gabriel‘s parents
  3. In 1982, he produced ABBA member Frida‘s solo album, Something’s Going On, which helped to spawn the title track, “I Know There’s Something Going On
  4. “Sussudio” drew criticism from music reviewers for sounding too similar to Prince‘s “1999”
  5. Phil Collins uses Gretsch drums and Sabian cymbals. Until 1986, Collins played Paiste and Zildjian cymbals
  6. Collins made an appearance as himself in the 2006 PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, set in 1984
  7. Collins also has a lifelong interest in the Alamo. He has collected hundreds of artifacts related to the famous 1836 battle in San Antonio, Texas, narrated a light and sound show about the Alamo, and has spoken at related events
  8. Phil Collins is left-handed
  9. Phil Collins joined the long list of celebrities lampooned by South Park. It happened in South Park episode 51 entitled “Timmy! 2000”
  10. Phil is good friends with tennis legend Andre Agassi.

Bathroom graffiti fail

Saw this graffiti in the bathroom at a favorite Minneapolis restaurant of mine the other night. I love how the progression of “metal” one-upping is silenced by the baddest band of all time…Hall & Oates.
