The First Beer In Space

On May 27th, 2011 Natty Light officially became The First Beer In Space. Here’s is how they did it. The entire flight was filmed with POV styling as the can of beer entered the “Nattosphere.” The video is actually quite breathtaking. Amazing the camera caught the flight (and fall) without breaking.

Note: This event took place on May 27th, with clearance and approval from the FAA. The documented footage was posted on-line November 18th.

Whistle Face

I have heard of a guitar face, but never a whistle face. Until now. The crowd is speechless.

America isn’t the only country with drones

I think the general public might be a bit naive when they think of our mighty military. We might be able to kick some serious ass, we aren’t the only ones harnessing some dangerous technology. Today, more than 50 countries are using or developing unmanned aerial vehicles, or “Drones.” Here are a couple that make me nervous. See a more complete list here. (via Wired)

A list of companies too chickenshit to use the word “Christmas”

The American Family Association provided a list of companies that do and do not use the word “Christmas” in their advertising or promotions this time of year. If you are interested in seeing how they determined this, then click here.

I am indifferent on this topic because I’m pretty sure Jesus Christ doesn’t care about Black Friday. I think a company should use whatever word they want. However, I don’t think retailers should be letting the political correctness crazies out there push them around either. Use whatever word (Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Holiday) is going to make your company wheel barrows full of money and ignore the idiots that tell you how to run your business.

Tiny Crime Scene Tape

Bad things happent to good people. When the police have left and the witnesses have been interviewed, the crime scene tape remains. Design studio Aint Rocket Science have developed Tiny Crime Scene Tape, a small roll of vinyl tape for closing off the mini crime scenes in your life. Rope off that box of chocolates you just destroyed, or that bag of Doritos you ate while watching reruns of Ugly Betty. You can buy it here. What would you use it for?

360-degree panoramic images of NYC crime scenes

360-degree panoramic images of NYC crime scenes

Undercover narcotics officers chased a 15-year-old suspected of having a firearm into a building courtyard. After firing at him, police learned that the suspect was holding a pellet gun covered with black tape, not a real gun. The boy was hospitalized and was later charged in family court. The investigation is closed.

In 2009, the NYPD started using a camera called the Panoscan to capture high-resolution, 360-degree panoramic images of crime scenes. This new view is much better than photo snapshots or handheld video camera recordings because it captures everything surrounding the crime scene (even above in the sky). This allows investigators to point and click over evidence from a scene that they might have missed in the hectic hours after the crime.

Who was “The Umbrella Man”?

The Umbrella Man

Willis Slide 1964 The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

Errol Morris makes documentary films. His latest effort only runs 6 minutes and explores a very odd mystery regarding the Kennedy assassination. In the short, Morris interviews Josiah “Tink” Thompson, a former philosophy professor and expert on the JFK assassination. The topic is “The Umbrella Man,” a mysterious character who appears in the Zapruder film of the shooting.

Why is this lone man holding a large black umbrella on a beautiful sunny day? And isn’t it a little suspicious that the shooting starts right as the presidential motorcade passes the mysterious man?

Who was “The Umbrella Man”? Watch the video here.
