Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream released a 7-minute video that has the gaming industry buzzing.
The clip, which David Cage, the head of Quantic Dream, unveiled on Wednesday at a Game Developers Conference presentation, shows an android named Kara becoming self-aware as she is being assembled, and desperately insisting that her sentience is a feature and not a bug. The role of Kara was performed by the actress Valorie Curry (Veronica Mars, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2).
The full tech demo video for “Kara” below is an example of how the creators of Heavy Rain are looking to expand virtual performances in video games.
And just to be extra clear: No, “Kara” is not Quantic Dream’s next game.
If the rule that they always die in threes is true, then another celebrity should be taking a dirt nap any day now.

Imperial Drag was an American rock band, active from 1994 to 1997. The group, formed after the breakup of Jellyfish, released one album and scored one rock hit single in the U.S. before disbanding. The group’s glam rock-influenced image, however, failed to win fans over in the wake of the grunge era. I remember discovering them in July of 1996 at the Taste of Minnesota. The show was still one of the best live shows I have seen. I still enjoy the album to this day and urge you to rediscover them yourself.
The lead singer, Eric Dover, auditioned as lead vocalist for the first solo album by Slash of Guns N’ Roses. Dover recorded vocals on the Slash’s Snakepit album It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere before rejoining keyboardist Roger Manning (Jellyfish) in the Imperial Drag. Dover has also been a session musician for Alice Cooper. He now fronts a band called Sextus.

Here is a movie poster parody of the film War Horse. I have not and will not see this movie. Can someone please explain why this was up for an Oscar? The movie, based on a 1982 children’s book by Michael Morpurgo about the service of a military horse during World War 1, had been nominated in six categories.

The team of US Special Operations Forces who killed Osama bin Laden in a pre-dawn raid on a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, were led by elite Navy SEALS from the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC, pronounced: JAY-sock). They basically serve as the president’s secret army, planning and executing the most dangerous, highly classified missions of the United States military. Somali pirates killing? Nabbing Saddam Hussein? Black Hawk Down? JSOC was involved in all of them.
The Command: Deep Inside the President’s Secret Army by Marc Ambinder and D.B. Grady is a new book that goes deep inside JSOC and gives us a look at why our military is badass. It is now available at Amazon.
