Wolf Girl

An 11-year-old Thai child in Bankok was just named by the Guinness World Record’s as the world’s hairiest girl. Nicknamed ‘Wolf Girl,’ Supatra Sasuphan has Ambras Syndrome which causes abnormal hair growth over her face, ears, arms, legs and back.

Amazingly, her sweet nature has quickly won over people in her community. Although she has been teased mercilessly at school in the past, much of it has stopped. She is happy and is now quite popular. She has friends and enjoys a relatively normal life.

Subway’s unique locations

subway-logo

Subway sandwich chain has surpassed McDonald’s Corp. as the world’s largest restaurant chain in terms of units. How did they do it? They did it by opening outlets in non-traditional locations such as an automobile showroom in California, an appliance store in Brazil, a ferry terminal in Seattle, a riverboat in Germany, the zoo in Taiwan, a Goodwill store in South Carolina, a high school in Detroit and a church in Buffalo, New York.

If you are thinking of opening a new restaurant or eatery of some kind, maybe you should rethink your location.

Since we are talking about Subway, remember these? Remember how excited you’d get if the guy behind the register was in a hurry and gave you more stamps than you had coming? Subway finally phased out the stamps in 2005 due to widespread use of counterfeit stamps.

Rodney King, Reginald Denny, and L.A. Riots

Today’s marks the 20th anniversary of the Rodney King beatings. He was beaten by police officers after leading them on a high-speed chase and resisting arrest. A bystander, George Holliday, videotaped much of the incident.

The officers were acquitted of their actions. This verdict ultimately led to the Los Angeles Riots of 1992. I never will understand the desire people have to destroy, rob, and loot their own neighborhood as a way of “protesting” or showing disdain for a situation one feels is unjust.

Let us not forget that 53 people died in those riots and thousands more were injured. The severe beating of truck driver Reginald Denny almost made the death toll 54. His senseless beating was captured on video as well, but I think most have forgotten about him.*If you know where to find original footage of this beating, please contact me. Apparently much of it has been kept from the public?

All in all, it was a sad time for America and undid a lot of progress white and blacks had made to get along.

Bryant McKinnie’s bar tab and other things that cost $100k

B McKinnie

It was revealed the other day that Minnesota Vikings tackle Bryant McKinnie partied down with celebs at a posh Hollywood nightclub recently. The bar tab? $100k. I couldn’t imagine spending that kind of money even if I had it, but to each their own, right?

Lets take a look at other things with a $100k price tag.

  • A promoted trend on Twitter for 24 hours costs about $100k and brands like Coca-Cola and AT&T are buying
  • Panasonic 103-inch HD 3D plasma TV
  • $100k per second is about what an advertiser paid to run a commercial during the Super Bowl earlier this month.
  • The 7-Series BMW costs about $100k if you have some serious negotiating powers.
  • You can franchise a Drifter’s Hanburgers fast-food joint

Red Hot Chili Peppers new album title isn’t that long

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the working title of their newest album (being finished now), and it’s a mouthful: – “Dr Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-head.”

But it’s not really THAT long.

If you want to see a really long album title, then check this. One of the longest album title that actually made the charts was by Fiona Apple (remember her?). It was titled: “When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He’ll Win the Whole Thing ‘Fore He Enters the Ring There’s No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cuz You’ll Know That You’re Right.”

The album title contains 90 words and, including spaces, 446 characters. (via

How fast can you run 1 mile…backwards?

On this day in 1983 Donald Davis ran 1 mile backwards in 6 minutes 7.1 seconds. However, the record for running the fastest mile backwards is now 6 min 2.35 sec and was set by D. Joseph James (India) at Nehru Stadium Athletics Track, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India on 10 August 2002.  See this record (and more) in the Guinness Book of Records.

Minnesota Blue law has people seeing red

Minnesota has always been a bit old-fashioned when it comes to some things. In many ways, it’s what gives us our charm. A new debate on a very old issue has popped up again challenging an old blue law that says liquor stores, etc., cannot sell alcohol on Sundays. Minnesota is one of 14 states that doesn’t allow it, and the reasons are a bit ridiculous to me.

Chicago Lake Liquors

The owner of Chicago Lake Liquors is in favor of selling on Sundays.

First off, there is no rational basis for any law that tries to enforce religious standards of how people should or should not spend a particular day of the week. If you are against the idea of buying beer, wine, or liquor on Sundays, then don’t buy beer, wine, or alcohol on Sundays.

I tend to favor free market competition, so I don’t care if the sale of booze on Sunday will cut into bar and restaurant profits. I think it’s up to a bar owner or liquor store to up their game or diversify somehow to fight that new competition. Also, telling a grocery store it can’t carry alcohol is like telling Walgreen’s they can’t carry paperback books.

Some arguments are even coming from the liquor store owners themselves, who say that allowing the sale of alcohol on Sunday will increase operating costs for them. My response to that is pretty simple: Stay closed. You can set your own operating hours.

So, where am I going wrong here? Tell me how selling alcohol on Sundays is really going to hurt Minnesota …

Beware Of The Homosexual 1961 PSA

“What Jimmy didn’t know was that Ralph was sick. A sickness that was not visible like smallpox, but no less dangerous and contagious — a sickness of the mind. You see, Ralph was a homosexual.” “One never knows when the homosexual is about. He may appear normal and it may be too late when you discover he is mentally ill.” This PSA was created by Sid Davis productions in 1961 on a shoestring budget of $1,000 to warn young boys about predatory homosexuals. The Leave it to Beaver type music is a trip.

Family Auto Mart Assclownery

Family Man of Family Auto Mart

Family Man of Family Auto Mart

Local auto dealership commercials have always been difficult to watch. Just when you think you have seen the worst, along comes “The Family Man.” He wrote, directed, and unfortunately stars in his own infomercial for his Family Auto Mart car dealership in Florida. One rule of advertising is to be memorable. He succeeds here in the memorable category. Watch if you dare, but head to the bathroom first. You may wet yourself watching this assclownery.

When you think about the Brewers, does a little pee come out?

Take a die-hard baseball fan with pent-up frustration, some html, and a petition, and you can get people involved in the ultimate of all rallies. Visit peeyourpantsforthebrewers.com to see for yourself.

This Brewers fan has asked people to pledge to pee their pants if the Brewers go to the playoffs this year. The petition page is hilarious. The idea is remarkable.
