Some final wishes shouldn’t be carried out

I’m sorry, but some final wishes shouldn’t be carried out. (via)

Treating depression just got off to a bad start

I know you can’t judge a book by its cover, but isn’t the title of this book for treating depression a little counterintuitive? “Here dumbass, don’t kill yourself.” (via 9GAG)

Photobombing the Beatles

Here is a brief introduction of a man that wants nothing to do with the Beatles. While vacationing in London in 1969, Paul Cole watched “a bunch of kooks” repeatedly cross the street. Little did he know, he was photobombing the photo shoot for Abbey Road.

Paul Cole thought the Beatles were "a bunch of kooks."

If you get raptured, what happens to your pets?

Nearly 40 million people in the U.S. believe there will be a Second Coming in their lifetime, followed by the Rapture. It is said that during this time, the righteous will be spirited away to a better place while the unbelievers remain on Earth. Since the Bible isn’t clear on what happens to our furry little friends, you can now at least have peace of mind that they can be cared for. That is, if you don’t mind they are looked after by (gasp!) atheists.

This is not a joke. An organization exists that recruits non-Christian animal lovers nationwide to volunteer to take care of left-behind pets if the Rapture occurs. You pay a $10 monthly fee to keep your membership and register all your pets.

Geez, I hope they’ll take an unpredictable Ferret with a bad disposition.

A pretty amazing pot growing operation

Here is an example of a unbelieveable marijuana growing operation. Using two rooms, these clever crooks were able to generate 12 to 14 crops a year. Each crop had an estimated street value around $500,000 or more. Do the math. At this rate, 13 crops a year would net about $6-8 million.

March Sadness – Delaware DOT confiscates basketball hoops

Delaware Department of Transportation crews escorted by state police tore down basketball hoops this morning in two neighborhoods in Claymont amid protests from residents who say the nets aren’t harming anyone.

Last fall, DelDOT sent letters to at least eight residents in the Radnor Green and Ashbourne Hills subdivisions saying their street-side basketball hoops violated the state’s Clear Zone law, which prohibits hoops, trees, shrubs and other objects from being within seven feet of the pavement’s edge in subdivisions.

DelDOT told residents that if they didn’t take down the hoops that the agency would and residents would be charged for the removal and disposal costs, said Radnor Green resident John McCafferty. (via)

The ruling on homeowners having basketball hoops is ridiculous. The use of tax payer money for something like this is astonishing. Unfortunately, asinine things like this are happening in neighborhoods all over the U.S. The law is the law I guess, but geez.

See video of a homeowner plead with DOT workers while they use a front loader to take away his basketball hoop.

Why my kids will never be in a yoga class

If you were looking for a good reason NOT to get your kid into yoga, I have several here in this video. Yogi Oki-Doki is dude who teaches yoga to children. He gives them instructions for different yoga positions while people in animal costumes stare and make unfortunate sounds. It’s terrifying and a bit pedophilic.

I’ve gotta go find an eye-wash station now to erase what I just watched.

Sexist retro advertising

I think we have come a long way in terms of gender equality in the U.S. If you want some proof of that, take a looksie at the sexism in these vintage advertisments. (via)

Inside a new Al Qaeda magazine for Muslim women

Al-Shamikha magazine

Al-Shamikha magazine

Don’t say they’ve never done anything for you ladies. Al Qaeda has a new magazine on the stands just for women. Al-Shamikha offers women tips on things like skin care, etiquette, niqab wearing, and marriage. Oh, and they also provide some essential advice on jihad and martyrdom.

The magazine cover shows a fully covered Muslim woman and a picture of a machine gun. Just like Cosmopolitan magazine has a “Fun, Fearless Female” award, Al-Shamikha honors the women it admires, too.  Except these women are the wives of martyrs who have blown themselves up to kill infidels.

But as we all have heard, Islam is a peaceful religion.

The only known TIME Magazine cover typo

Here are some pictures of the only known typo to appear on the cover of TIME Magazine. It was published on this day in 1983. The typo appears in the upper right corner and shows a spelling of the word “control” as “contol.” All magazines were recalled, but some are still out there. These pictures come from an eBay listing I found.
