Monday Music Rewind: Ginuwine – Pony

This morning on twitter, the trending topic was #throwbacksongs. Scrolling through, I noticed most of them were hip-hop. It reminded me of the hit “Pony” from Ginuwine. In case you are wondering, the song isn’t about a Pony. The song must have helped in the bedroom too. He has 8 children.

Pony was released as a single from his first LP, Ginuwine…The Bachelor, in 1996. Watch the video below. Buy the song here.

The band Far has a nice rock cover of this song too.

Woman finds racial slur on Papa John’s receipt

Another reason to check your receipt: After buying a pizza from the Hamilton Heights branch of Papa John’s in New York City on Saturday, Harlem resident Minhee Cho discovered that an employee had described her using the racial slur, “lady chinky eyes.”

Papa Johns receipt

Cho posted a photo of the receipt on Twitter and tweeted: “Hey @PapaJohns just FYI my name isn’t ‘lady chinky eyes’”

Cho commented that she was “surprised” to see the racist phrase as “the lady that was serving me was super nice and we joked and it seemed super normal.”

Papa John’s responded quickly, saying via Twitter on Saturday evening that the employee (a sixteen-year-old girl, says Gothamist) had been fired and expressing shock at the incident:

We are very upset by recent receipt issue in New York & sincerely apologize to our customer. Franchise employee involved is being terminated.

The pizza chain had no choice but to respond with alacrity. After Cho tweeted about the receipt, it was viewed over 200,000 times over the weekend, according to CNN.

Probably gonna get blasted for this, but I kinda feel bad for companies now. With social media, nothing can be dealt with in-house and in a private matter. Companies always take a risk hiring people, and inevitably a shithead will get employed. I don’t think we need to call for a boycott of the pizza chain or anything though. People need to settle down.

Papa John’s fired the dipwad that did it. Cancel the sensitivity training. Stop releasing official statements. Let’s move on.

Ashton Kutcher quits Twitter

I love how DB Ashton Kutcher is all of a sudden the voice of morality. I also think banging 23-year-old girls in a hot-tub when you are married is an #insult from a guy with #noclass, and generally in “poor taste.” Let’s all unfollow this assclown and see what his publicist does with that.

Bryant McKinnie’s bar tab and other things that cost $100k

B McKinnie

It was revealed the other day that Minnesota Vikings tackle Bryant McKinnie partied down with celebs at a posh Hollywood nightclub recently. The bar tab? $100k. I couldn’t imagine spending that kind of money even if I had it, but to each their own, right?

Lets take a look at other things with a $100k price tag.

  • A promoted trend on Twitter for 24 hours costs about $100k and brands like Coca-Cola and AT&T are buying
  • Panasonic 103-inch HD 3D plasma TV
  • $100k per second is about what an advertiser paid to run a commercial during the Super Bowl earlier this month.
  • The 7-Series BMW costs about $100k if you have some serious negotiating powers.
  • You can franchise a Drifter’s Hanburgers fast-food joint
