The Great Toilet Paper Debate: Over or Under?

Up until a few months ago, I had never paid attention to how I change a roll of toilet paper. When I was asked be a friend what I preferred, I didn’t have an answer. People who have an opinion are passionate about their stance on the issue. This diagram below gives us insight into those people. Is there a category for people like me that are indifferent? Bilderberg meeting this weekend

The Grand Hotel Kempinski in St. Moritz, location of the 2011 Bilderberg meeting

The Grand Hotel Kempinski in St. Moritz, location of the 2011 Bilderberg meeting. It has been closed down since April 10th and will reopen to the public on June 17th.

For those of you who don’t know, The Bilderberg Group, Bilderberg conference, or Bilderberg Club is an annual, unofficial, invitation-only conference of approximately 140 guests, most of whom are people of influence in the fields of politics, banking, business, the military and news media. The names of attendees are made available to the press, but the conferences are closed to the public and the media, and no press releases are issued.

Because of its exclusivity and privacy, the Bilderberg group is frequently accused by conspiracy theorists from both extremes of the political spectrum of being an all-powerful secret society fixing the fate of the world behind closed doors including orchestrating wars, world economies, and even manipulating presidential elections. Here is a current article regarding thoughts about the 2012 election.

Critics of Bilderberg conspiracy theories counter that it is nothing more than a policy discussion forum and social club which only serves as a means to brainstorm, reach consensus, and create social cohesion within the power elite of Western European and North American nations, to better promote Atlanticism and a neoliberal form of globalization.

If you want to learn more about this group, I would recommend reading “The True Story of the Bilderberg Group” by Daniel Estulin.

The annual meeting is taking place in St. Moritz, Switzerland on June 11, 2011.

Here is an alleged list of attendees for Saturday.

The first known all-African-American heavy metal band

This is a picture of the first known all-African-American heavy metal band. Black Death formed in the late 1970’s and hailed from Cleveland, OH where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located. Coincidence? I think not. Read about them here. Check out their music here on Amazon.

The dude standing middle in the back needs to work a bit on his metal face, but the rest of them pretty much blow my metal mind. (via 9GAG)

The Final Teen Spirit

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” has been mashed with “The Final Countdown.” This mashup brought me back to my teenage years and demonstrated to me that grunge and butt rock can co-exist. Both songs (iconic in their own right), blew me away when I first heard them. Hearing them together recreates that emotion in a way that makes me want to buy back my 1983 Camero and start smoking again.

This song may or may not give you goosebumps.

Marines tell Army to stand-down on camo

Marine Digital Camouflage Fabric

Marine Digital Camouflage Fabric

Apparently the Army is considering different camouflage patterns for a new set of uniforms for the troops. The older Universal Camouflage Pattern has been criticized as ineffective in the field. The MARPAT (Marine Pattern) shown in the picture is one design the Army is considering, but the Marine Corps are claiming the uniform is their property and that Marines should be distinguished from other soldiers. They don’t want the Army to steal their look.

I think the Marines have exercised a major lack of judgement here. Choosing what is effective in the field and saving lives trumps vanity and pride every time. Stop this nonsense, and pick the camo that’s right for ALL of our soldiers.

HIV distribution map

A new interactive U.S. map shows U.S. data on diagnosed rates and cases of HIV. With just a few clicks, it shows county-by-county HIV cases and rates, and the epidemic’s patterns by gender, poverty, ethnicity and other demographics. In Hennepin County at least 249 of every 100,000 people are living with HIV. Click here to see the map in action and look up your hometown. (via Wired)
