The Safe Harbor Initiative

Take a walk around your neighborhood. Have you seen any blue strips painted on street curbs in front of homes and businesses? If you haven’t, you will soon. A Texas man named Anthony Welichko started what is now known as the Safe Harbor Initiative by spray painting a small blue strip on the curb in front of his house. That strip is to let officers know the person occupying that home or business has their back and appreciates all they do for the community.

There are a lot of bad cops out there, but the majority are good and just want to do their job without being called a racist or without the fear of being killed. Let’s hold them accountable when they cross the line, but show our support as well.

#myNYPD Twitter campaign backfires

On Tuesday the NYPD’s Twitter page, @NYPDnews, asked users to tweet pictures of positive interactions between the public and city cops, and to use the hashtag #myNYPD. The public had other ideas. See what they tweeted.

NYPD cop picture goes viral

It’s not often we get to show the world something good about a cop even though thousands of them do good every day. Here is an example of what’s meant when we say, “they aren’t all bad” or “most cops are good.”

A photograph taken by a passing tourist of Mr Deprimo kneeling down to help the man put the shoes on was later posted to the New York Police Department’s Facebook page

A tourist snapped this photo of Officer Deprimo kneeling down to help the man put the shoes on was later posted to the New York Police Department’s Facebook page and has since been viewed 1.6 million times. Officer Lawrence Deprimo bought a pair of socks and boots for the homeless man after noticing he was barefooted in freezing temperatures.

If you are one of those people who hate copes, maybe this story will change your mind about them. If anything, I hope it inspires you to do something nice for someone in need this holiday season.

Share, comment, and like if this story moves you.

Naked Man Eating Victim’s Face Shot And Killed By Miami Police

Rudy Eugene was identified as the man-eating, face-chewing naked homeless man shot dead by officers Sunday on a downtown highway ramp in Miami, as witnesses emerged to describe the gruesome scene. The 31-year-old was found in a zombie-like state of cannibal bliss, eating the face and neck of another naked man and growling at police officers as they tried to subdue him. A crime scene photo has also been leaked. Warning: Extremely graphic and horrifying. Click to view.

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked, and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp in Miami. Warning: Some images are disturbing.

There, according to the Herald, the officer observed a naked man eating another man’s face:

The officer…approached and saw that the naked man was actually chewing the other man’s head, according to witnesses. The officer ordered the naked man to back away, and when he continued the assault, the officer shot him.

The attacker continued to eat the man, despite being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.

“The guy just stood his head up […] with a piece of flesh in his mouth, and growled.”

I was really hoping this was just one of those “Buzz” marketing campaign for The Walking Dead on AMC.

Idiot steals gas from cop car, posts picture on Facebook, and goes directly to jail.

From Gizmodo: This is Michael Baker. Michael is 20 years old, lives in Kentucky, and likes The Bucket List on Facebook. I know these things because Michael has not activated his Facebook privacy settings, which is something that’s recommended in most cases but absolutely essential if you’re going to post pictures of yourself stealing gas from a cop car on your wall.

The theft occurred last month, according to The Smoking Gun; that’s when Baker raised his middle finger at his girlfriend’s camera while slurping up gas from a Jenkins City police cruiser. He was arraigned yesterday in Letcher County District Court.

Baker has since taken down the incriminating photo, as well as a few updates he had apparently left along the way (sample: “yea lol i went too [sic] jail over facebook.”). Which, yes, lol indeed.
