Drone or mosquito?
This is an insect spy drone for urban areas, already in production, funded by the US Government. It can be remotely controlled and is equipped with a camera and a microphone. It can land on you, and it may have the potential to take a DNA sample or leave RFID tracking nanotechnology on your skin. It can fly through an open window, or it can attach to your clothing until you take it in your home.
And no amount of Deep Woods Off is going to keep it away.
Snopes.com says there is some truth to this, but that this image is probably a CGI mock-up / prototype not yet being used.

The Popinator voice-activated popcorn launcher
Popcorn, Indiana has decided that it’s just too much trouble to reach into that bag or bowl and created a popcorn launcher. A binaural microphone array on the machine’s front listens for a clear “pop” command — say the magic word and the Popinator will aim one of its many corn projectiles at your mouth, no hands required. Popcorn, Indiana has answered back and says the Popinator is currently an in-house project, but it may well become something you can buy if everything lines up. (via engadget)
By the way, Popcorn Indiana has some really great popcorn flavors you can buy online.

A new app that gives you disposable phone numbers
Burner is a new iPhone app that will give you a disposable, short term cell phone number to give to randos at the bar, weirdos on Craigslist, and Marlos on the corner. It also makes life easier for contract killers, stalkers, and the KGB.
The app will become available in the Apple iTunes App Store Wednesday for $1.99 per download. Users start out with three credits, which gives them a single number for seven days of use or 20 minutes of talk time. Users can purchase additional credits or packages to extend the life of a number, or “burn” it at any time. Hope it hits Android soon.
