Movie poster for Tarantino’s new movie

Django Unchained.

Here is the first teaser poster for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie Django Unchained.

Here’s the movie’s synopsis:

Set in the Deep South during the 1850s, Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) is a German bounty hunter/former dentist who buys Django (Jamie Foxx) as a slave so that he can help Schultz identify bounties for him. After successfully helping the good doctor with his bounty hunting, Django is given his freedom papers and is recruited by Schultz to continue being his partner in the bounty hunting business.

Django hones his bounty hunting skills until Schultz thinks he is ready to go to Mississippi; in order to free his wife (Broomhilda). When they find her where abouts through slave auction records, they discover she is in the hands of monsieur Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio); a francophile who takes great pleasure in watching Mandingos fight to the death. Django and Schultz cleverly con Candie into selling Django back his Broomhilda. But something goes rotten in the state of Denmark and Django finds himself fighting for his life, his wife, and sweet bloody vengeance.

The movie also stars Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kurt Russell, Anthony LaPaglia and Don Johnson.

Tupac performs at Coachella as a hologram

From Yahoo!: Tupac died in 1996, three years before the first Coachella festival took place, but that didn’t stop him–or at least his bizarrely lifelike 3D image–from joining Dr. Dre onstage during Dre’s much-hyped festival finale this year.

About halfway through Dre’s 70-minute set, what appeared to be an actual shirtless Tupac appeared onstage, greeted the crowd with “What up, Coachella?”–and then traded rhymes with Dre’s co-billed Coachella partner, the flesh-and-blood Snoop Dogg, on “Come With Me,” “Hail Mary,” and “Gangsta Party.” Concertgoers at first seemed confused–the audience momentarily grew abnormally silent–and that confusion only increased when Tupac suddenly vaporized and vanished from the stage as quickly as he had materialized. All eyes were on him, so to speak, and then, POOF–‘Pac was gone.

Watch the haunting video here. Warning: Video has swear words.

The implications of holograms becoming commonplace scares the piss out of me. Will we ever have to say goodbye?

Monday Music Rewind: Fountains of Wayne

Fountains Of Wayne - Radiation Vibe

Fountains of Wayne is an American power pop band that formed in New York City in 1996. The band consists of members Chris Collingwood, Adam Schlesinger, Jody Porter and Brian Young.

Initially the band went by other names, including Are You My Mother? and Woolly Mammoth, before settling on Fountains of Wayne, taken from a lawn ornament store in Wayne, New Jersey. The store was located at the intersection of U.S. Route 46 and New Jersey Route 23,[3] not far from Montclair, New Jersey, the hometown of the band’s bassist and co-founder Adam Schlesinger. The store can be seen in The Sopranos episode “Another Toothpick” as well.

The store went out of business in 2009.

“Radiation Vibe” was the first single by Fountains of Wayne, from their debut album also titled Fountains of Wayne. It was released in 1996. It remains my favorite FOW song.
