Monday Music Rewind: Our Lady Peace

Our Lady Peace

“Superman’s Dead” is a song by Our Lady Peace, released as the first single from their second album Clumsy. “Superman’s Dead” was seen by the band as a dark statement on how much television kids watch and the content of it. It looks at the dark expectations that are garnered from media images.

Our Lady Peace (sometimes shortened to OLP is a Canadian alternative rock band that formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1992. They are still a band today.

New song by Mozart found in a notebook in an attic

Austrian musician Florian Birsak performs what is believed to be a recently discovered composition written by a 10-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on Mozart’s old piano in his childhood home. The piece is said to have been “found in a notebook in an attic.” The piece is called “Mozart: Allegro Molto in C Major.”

Remember OK Soda?

From the FW: Back in 1993, Coke attempted to connect with the disaffected members of Generation X through a soda that was just as snarky and “over it” as they were. With a trendy can designed by graphic novelists Charles Burns and Daniel Clowes, a pithy catchphrase (“Things Are Going to Be OK”) and a vaguely citrus-y taste, OK Soda was unleashed on a few markets around the country. The soda even came with a “manifesto,” with phrases like “What’s the point of OK? Well, what’s the point of anything?” printed on the can. Unsurprisingly, a soda featuring sad-looking Gen X-ers staring you down while you guzzle failed to connect with the public. Coke discontinued the beverage, but it has achieved something of a cult following on the Web.

I always thought it tasted like mop water. Not that I know what mop water tastes like. Shut up.

Alicia Silverstone spitting food in her baby’s mouth

Alicia Silverstone literally chews up food and spits it into the mouth of her two-year old as a way of feeding him. I will never watch the Aerosmith video Cryin’ the same way again. Let’s hope Alicia Silverstone doesn’t throw her baby out of a tree to teach him to fly.

From Silverstone’s blog: The Kind Life:

I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum! I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup…from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite…and mine. He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating. This video was taken about a month or 2 ago when he was a bit wobbly. Now he is grabbing my mouth to get the food!

Kitler – Cats that look like Hitler

Does your cat look like Adolf Hitler? Do you wake up in a cold sweat every night wondering if he’s going to up and invade Poland? Does he keep putting his right paw in the air while making a meow noise that sounds suspiciously like “Sieg Miaow”? If so, this is the website for you.

Here are some of the more unfortunate markings you’ll find there.
