10 Notorious Internet Hoaxes

10 Notorious Internet Hoaxes
Before you get fired up at McDonald’s and start sharing this with your friends and family, check your sources. This sign has been shopped and is a hoax. Internet pranksters rely on people like your gullible Mom or crazy uncle to spread this stuff.

Here is another example. It seems like every week on the Internet is Shark Week, with a steady stream of insane shark-attack stories or shark-sighting videos leading the viral news. But when this image made the rounds in June, people really went nuts. It was supposedly taken in a flooded shopping center in Kuwait where a shark tank had collapsed. Pretty scary, right? But of course, it was not real. The photo was legitimately of a flooded shopping center (in Toronto), but the sharks were added in for effect.

not real.

Here is a link to other classic internet hoaxes. Which ones have you fallen for? In the future, check Snopes first to see if the story has legs.

Thanks for sending Junior.

‘American Horror Story’ Season 2 Update

AMERICAN-HORROR-STORY Lange

American Horror Story season 2 is still a couple months away from premiering, but the series creator Ryan Murphy revealed exactly where the second season of FX’s horror anthology will take place.

A recent article on Screen Rant reported the second season will move across the country to an institution for the criminally insane set on the East Coast in the 1960s. Jessica Lange will be running the institution, though no additional information about her character has been revealed.

As the body count from the first season began to rise, we all wondered exactly how American Horror Story season 2 would pick up. The creator has revealed that a new setting and cast would be introduced in the series’ second season – but it’s unclear whether the stars from last season would still be playing their same characters.

I am excited to see what they do next. American Horror Story season 2 will premiere October 2012.

Naked Man Covered In Crisco Just Wanted To ‘Party’

Naked Man Covered In Crisco Just Wanted To ‘Party’

This dude looks like he has a lot of Crisco on hand.

Rock Island police arrested a man found naked and covered in cooking spray early Monday in the downtown area.

Officers responded to the call of a naked man at 3:27 a.m. who “had lathered himself up in Crisco. He was covered in grease, and was holding the can under his arm.”

Rock Island Deputy Chief of Police Jeff VenHuizen said the man, Chad William Forber, 41, of Blue Grass,  had taken off his shorts because they were too big and would not stay on.

The slippery criminal told police he “was looking for a place to party.”

Who isn’t?

Surprise! When officers searched the man’s shorts, they seized a quantity of drugs they suspected were methamphetamine. Full story.

Yankee pitcher gets donked on the head by a ball thrown by his teammate

Eric Chavez was involved in one of the goofier plays of the night Tuesday, as he inadvertently hit Cody Eppley in the head with a throw. Forward until about :46.

Eppley recorded a pair of groundouts after entering the game in the sixth, getting a new ball from home-plate umpire Bob Davidson after the second out. Not realizing that his pitcher had been given a new one, Chavez threw it to him, clunking it off the top of his head.

Girardi and a team trainer came to the mound to make sure Eppley was okay, but he remained in the game.

You can watch the official version here, when the YouTube copy gets removed.
