Horror movie ‘The Woman In Black’

CBS Films’ The Woman In Black opens Feb 3, 2012 and stars Daniel Radcliffe as a lawyer who travels to a remote English village and discovers that the ghost of a scorned woman is terrorizing the locals. It is directed by James Watkins and gets it’s legs from a remake of a 1989 TV movie that was adapted from a play that was adapted from Susan Hill‘s novel.

The haunting sound of a meteor recorded in space

The U.S. Air Force Space Surveillance Radar in Texas recorded echoes of the Perseid Meteors as they passed over the monitoring facility. Includes imagery of a meteor photographed by astronaut Ron Garan aboard the International Space Station.

I don’t know why, but it scares the bejeezus out of me.

A small bookstore in West Virginia

A small bookstore in West Virginia

The Paradox Bookstore

A small bookstore in Wheeling, West Virginia has a charming business model. The Paradox Bookstore is located at the Centre Market in Wheeling, WV. This eclectic used bookstore is actually the oldest used bookstore in West Virginia. It was opened by Tom Stobart 35 years ago when he was just seventeen and a young playwright. He can still be found behind the low counter reading and smoking as if time has forgotten him and he could care less. Their hours are posted as “irregular,” and they have no phone.

What kind of business would you have if money didn’t matter?

The guys that could have bought Google

Remember Excite.com? Well in the late 1990s they had the chance to buy Google for $1 million. Excite wasn’t interested. The offer was lowered to $750,000. Excite passed. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin stuck with it and their once small search engine is worth about $180 billion. Excite declared bankruptcy in 2001 and the owners now have to tell this story to their grandkids someday.

How do you smoke?

I miss smoking. I quite 10 years ago and am happy I did, but I will always miss it. The smell of a freshly lit smokey treat or enjoying a cup coffee with a friend and a smoke are with me till the grave I’m afraid. Looking at these styles of smoking brought it all back. I was a “stealth” while taking a smoke break during work, and a “classic” almost all other times. How about about you? (via 9GAG)
