The Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics (LAB) recorded the sound of the earthquake that shook Japan on Friday, March 11. It was processed by LIDO (Listening to the Deep Ocean Environment). The signal has been accelerated 16 times so we humans can actually hear it. The spectrogram shows the intensity and frequency of the sound. Turn up your subs, close your eyes, and imagine the destruction. Click here to listen to the original recording.

Meatwater
Have you ever had a good run or gotten done working in the yard on a hot summer day and thought,”I’m thirsty! I could really go for some wiener schnitzel in liquid form?”
Me either.
A company called Liquid Innovations is banking on the fact that people want delicious meat dishes as a tasty beverage — so certain, in fact, that they have a variety of flavors to satisfy cravings of your favorite dishes, such as beef stroganof, dirty hot dog, salmon salad, and tandoori chicken.
Their most popular flavor currently is Hungarian goulash.

McCann Erickson, Prague and Lide.cz created this ad for the most popular dating site in the Czech Republic. The spot shows a devastated sex doll commit suicide because her manhandler dumped her to find human love online (which probably how he wound up with a sex doll in the first place). It is beautifully done and just what a guy would need to break up with his sex doll. I’m afraid that women using this dating site are now going to be flooded with requests from douchebags.
A new video has emerged featuring an Australian boy named Casey ‘Little Zangief’ Heynes standing up to a school bully.
Heynes, a pupil at Chifley College Dunheved’s Campus in New South Wales, first takes a punch in the face from a smaller kid named Richard Gale, but avoids fighting until it’s obvious the attack is not going to stop.
Heynes grabs his bully, picks him up and delivers a stunning piledriver into the merciless asphalt.
Both kids were suspended.
First off, I applaud this kid for standing up for himself. He will do fine in life, and this was a good learning lesson for that tiny dipwad who started it.
Bullying has become topic du jour across the U.S. lately. When I was a boy in school, fights like this happened on a regular basis. It is a problem. After this video came out, I heard teachers commenting that the bigger boy should not have fought back and that there is never a reason for violence. I think that is bullshit. Teachers who say this are being a bit ridiculous. Richard Gale needed to get stomped, and I am glad he got what was coming.
There is a difference between bullying and assault. Casey Heynes was assaulted here. He defended himself after showing amazing constraint. His parents should go to the police and file charges. The school should expel the antagoniser.
I believe YouTube has pulled this video now. Try watching here on CBS.

There is a lot of news coming out of Japan regarding nuclear reactors melting down. It is serious business and will likely derail plans for nuclear energy expansion for a long time.
There are two types of radiation poisoning. They are:
Chronic Radiation Syndrome: This is caused by a long term exposure to radiation.
Symptoms of Radiation Poisoning
Decrease in the number of red blood cells.
Decrease in immunity cells or white blood cells.
Sterility in males as well as in females.
Headaches.
Nausea.
Uncontrollable bleeding in the mouth, under the skin and in the kidneys.
Destruction of bone marrow cells.
Damage of Gastric and Intestinal Tissue. Intestinal Bleeding.
Massive Diarrhea and loss of water.
The death caused by radiation poisoning is often quite painful. At present, there is no cure for radiation sickness. The only treatment available is for relieving the pain of the patient.
If you can stomach it, a Google image search of “nuclear poisoning” will give you an idea of how dangerous this stuff is.

The amount of devastation from the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan is astonishing. Scores of people have lost their lives and the destruction is flabbergasting.
If you would like to help the people of Japan right away, I would recommend the Red Cross. Be careful donating to unknown organizations. You can vet charities on websites such as CharityNavigator.org and the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance (bbb.org/us/charity).

Alabama judge orders shoplifter to wear signboards outside a local Wal-Mart proclaiming "I am a Thief. I Stole from Walmart."
We are a nation that loves to put people behind bars. An estimated 2 million people (1 in 142 people in U.S.) in America are incarcerated. The cost on this is astronomical and is requiring many states to get creative on how we punish people who commit crimes.
Sentencing is most restrictive at the federal level, where judges tally up the offenses and use a formula set by Congress to determine prison time. Felony and misdemeanor judges in every state have legal constraints on sentences, but many have leeway to add “special” conditions. Municipal courts, which generally handle traffic and misdemeanor cases, typically leave the most room for creativity.
I believe that we need to differentiate between the criminals who we are afraid of and the people who we are mad at for doing something stupid. I want to lock up bad people, but I am also in favor of unique punishments that are personalized for the convicted.
Here are some examples of creative sentencing that I applaud.
Judge Mike Erwin of Baton Rouge first ventured out of the rulebook in the early 1990s. A young man hit an elderly man in an argument “over something really stupid.” Erwin ordered him to listen to a John Prine song, Hello in There, about lonely old people and write an essay about it.
In 2007, criminal defense attorney Michael Steven Sherman of Wexford, Pa., asked a Butler County judge to reconsider making his client carry a photograph of the man she killed in a car accident after his family chose a photograph of the man in his coffin.
Judge Larry Standley in Harris County TX added mandatory Yoga classes to a jail sentence for a man accused of slapping his wife.
Matthew R. Willis will serve 30 days every year for a decade on the anniversary of the crash that killed a passenger in his car. He had been speeding and driving carelessly.
Every Friday for the next 10 years, as part of his sentence, Brandon Blenden must write a $1 check and mail it the parents of a girl who he killed while driving drunk. He must also write in the memo, “for the death of your daughter Whitney.”

When it comes toJulia Roberts, what’s not to love? Admiration of a famous celebrity is nothing new, but film buff Miljenko Parserisas Bukovic has taken it to a whole new level of creepy. He loves the“Pretty Woman”star so much he has etched 82 tattoos of her all over his body.
