For a Halloween prank these guys dressed up a 4 foot dummy to look like a trick or treater complete with bag of candy (and a hidden microphone). Then we went door to door with our fake “Timmy” to see what kind of reactions we would get. Pretty good stuff here…
This is an actual radio ad for Keller’s Riverside Store in Mason, TX. He tells those who voted for Obama and Muslims that he will not allow them in his class.
The night before the burial of her husband 2nd Lt. James Cathey of the United States Marine Corps, killed in Iraq, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of “Cat”, and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept.
“I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it” she said. “I think that’s what he would have wanted”.
-Not sure what is more honorable: Being married to this faithful wife to the end or the Marine standing next to the casket watching over them both.
Listen to the similarities of “The Last Time,” a 1965 song by the Stones. This was recorded before the Verve got permission to use the riff.
The real bummer is that the Verve had to sign away most of the royalties from this in order to release the song. The publishing rights to this went to Allen Klein, The Rolling Stones’ former manager. The Stones signed a very lopsided contract with Klein early in their career, and had to make huge concessions in order to get out of it. Part of the deal gave Klein the publishing rights to all of the Stones’ songs through 1969. He made far more money than anyone else from this song.
Nike used this in commercials. Klein got royalties from those.
This was the only hit for The Verve, who broke up in 1999.
