The cuttlefish in the video — part of a seafood dish named odori-don — is actually no longer living. When the sodium in soy sauce is absorbed into the creature’s body, it triggers muscle spasms that appear to make the squid dance.
Incidentally, it makes humans like me fall from their chairs and vomit.

Woman’s baby cut from womb while responding to Craigslist ad

What in the actual F is the matter with people?
A 26-year-old Longmont woman who was seven months pregnant showed up at a home Wednesday to buy baby clothes she’d seen in a Craigslist post.
What police say happened then is horrific: The 34-year-old woman named Dynel Catrece who lives at the home, in the 1600 block of Green Place in Longmont, CO stabbed the pregnant woman and “removed” her baby.
The baby did not survive.
Speaking to the Longmont Times-Call, the Boulder County District Attorney Stanley Garnett described Colorado laws involving crimes against an unborn child as “complicated.”
“In most circumstances, if a child was not actually born alive, then homicide charges are not possible,” Garnett told the newspaper, adding that charges would not need to be filed until next week.
It’s likely the most serious charge that Lane would face may be attempted first-degree murder, a class two felony punishable by 16 to 48 years in prison.

Anti-vax doctor’s comments causing outrage

The Jacksons’ daughter has leukemia which has ruined her measles immunity, and their son is too young to be immunized. So they are, in a sense, at the mercy of their community when it comes to contracting or not contracting the infection.
Now, after a trip to Disneyland and having indirect contact with a family who doesn’t vaccinate, their son is showing signs of the disease. And there’s nothing they can do but wait and hope.
Their story is sad enough told just like that. But to add salt to the wound, let’s see what the anti-vax doctor interviewed for this segment has to say…
His remarks (which begin about 2 minutes in) are clearly edited, so it’s possible he’s not as terrible as he comes across. Let’s hope so anyway, because how could anyone — and a doctor, no less — show such blatant disregard for the lives of other people?
