The terminal velocity for a freefalling skydiver is about 124 mph (200 kph) — about the length of a football field per second. Some experienced jumpers can go faster depending on how they position their body while in the air. I feel fortunate to be able to sit here today and tell you that I have jumped out of a plane twice and lived to tell about it. I did not jump from these altitudes, and my experience was not as serene as this video suggests. I did not feel like I was flying. I felt like I was falling to my death, and unspeakable thoughts raced through my head. Still, a part of me wants to do it again. If I do skydive again, it will be a night jump.
