Looks can be deceiving

Harpur Hill pool

This quarry pool at Harpur Hill, near Buxton, Derbeyshire – known locally as the Blue Lagoon – has a pH level of 11.3, is littered with rubbish and dead animals, and is extremely cold.
Local officials had to treat the water with a black dye to deter people from wanting to swim in it. Looks can be deceiving.
