I can’t believe it’s been 30 years. The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster occurred on January 28, 1986, when the NASA Space Shuttle orbiter Challenger exploded 73 seconds into its flight, leading to the deaths of its seven crew members.
I remember watching this live in my 4th grade class. I recall the teacher quickly shutting off the TV as she started to cry. I knew a teacher named Christa McAuliffe was on board – the first civilian in to go to space in fact. We had drawn pictures of her and space shuttles that day in class.
