Using an algorithm that took into consideration a city’s suicide rates, unemployment rates, percentage of households that use antidepressants, and the number of people who report feeling the blues all or most of the time revealed which cities in America have the saddest citizens.

Man hands out fetus dolls for Halloween

From WSBTV 2: Some parents who attended a trick-or-treat event in Loganville say they were offended by what some children got with their candy; a doll resembling a 12-week-old fetus.

Man hands out fetus dolls for Halloween

The man who handed out the dolls, or fetus models, is Joshua Edmonds, senior minister of ‘Project: Ignite’, which he describes as a Christian social justice organization.

He believes those who were offended misunderstood his message about life, and that he did not mention abortion during the event even though his organization is against abortion.

“We’re still trying to understand where the offense is at,” Edmonds said.

Watch the news story here.

Can someone go punch Joshua Edmonds in the face? This idiot needs to find another way to share his views on abortion. Although abortion is horrific, Halloween should not be a time to hand out political messages.

Woman hears after 29 years being deaf

This 29-year-old woman was born deaf. Thanks to an implant by Envoy Medical, she can now hear. The moment when she heard sound for the first time was captured on video. I cannot think of a better endorsement for this company.

Should people be able to use food stamps for fast food?

Photo: frugivore

U.S. Department of Agriculture records show that the number of businesses approved to accept food stamps grew by a third from 2005 to 2010. Vendors from convenience and dollar discount stores to gas stations and pharmacies increasingly joined the growing entitlement program. Now, fast food chains like the YUM! brand are trying to get government approval to accept food stamps too. If it’s approved, the government will technically be paying for low-income people to eat at places like Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Long John Silver’s.

The food police and public health advocates are not happy about this. I assume that many of you who pay taxes are not happy about it either. Obviously, the public would prefer that food stamp recipients make good nutritional choices with our hard-earned money. Fast food is bad for you right? How bad? Are you assuming welfare recipients are making good decisions in the grocery store aisle and that fast food options will derail that sensibility? Should poor people not be able to enjoy a Whopper? Should we have special EBT aisles in stores where people can only buy what we deem as healthy? Lots of questions. Not a lot of good answers.

What do you think the answer is?

Suicide by food

Susanne Eman, 32, is trying to become the fattest woman ever. Already 728-pounds, she aims to reach a whopping 1,600 pounds by guzzling more and more food every day. She wants to get into Guinness World Records as the “World’s Heaviest Woman.” The 2012 edition of the book will be released later this month. If you are repulsed by watching this woman kill herself and leave her kids without a mother, then the 2012 edition of Guinness World Records should be left off your Christmas list.

Four-Legged Woman

Four-Legged Woman
(via phreeque) Josephene Myrtle Corbin, the Four-Legged Woman, was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee in 1868. Rather than having a parasitic twin, Myrtle’s extra legs resulted from an even rarer form of conjoined twinning known as dipygus, which gave her two complete bodies from the waist down. She had two small pelves side-by-side, and each of her smaller inner legs was paired with one of her outer legs. She could move the smaller legs but was unable to use them for walking. At the age of 19, she married a doctor named Clinton Bicknell and had four daughters and a son. It has been said that three of her children were born from one set of organs, two from the other. Myrtle died on May 6, 1928. Click here for more pictures that will be sure to enter your dreams tonight.
